Where we come from

arcBARKS Dog Treat Company was created by The Arc of Greensboro in response to an increasing need for post-high school options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. arcBARKS was envisioned as a self-funding program that would provide vocational training in the real world setting of a functioning dog treat bakery.

In 2011, long time Arc member and parent, Pat Clapp and Ruth Edwards, the Executive Director of The Arc of Greensboro, worked together to create the arcBARKS Program.

An arcBARKS Story

arcBARKS Dog Treat Company is a nonprofit job training and enrichment program for adults with special needs founded by The Arc of Greensboro. The program operates as a real world functional dog treat bakery that focuses on providing vocational and life skills. Recently, a group of graduate students from High Point University partnered with arcBARKS to produce a video about our program and highlighted the experience of our new baker Danielle. Please check out this video to learn more about arcBARKS! If you want to support arcBARKS please come by our storefront on Spring Garden Street in Greensboro, NC.
